Registrations Now Open – The General Computing Competence Test (GCCT) – August 2025

Applications are now open for the General Computing Competence Test (GCCT).

 Registration Deadline: 26th August 2025

 Examination Fee: Rs. 5,500

Kindly note that the examination dates will be the 30th of August 2025 and the 31st of August 2025. The examination will be held at the University of Colombo School of Computing. The detailed exam schedule will be published on this website in due course.

Examination: Postgraduate Selection Test - August 2025

The examination will be conducted at the University of Colombo School of computing (UCSC)
Exam Date: 30th or 31st of August 2025 (Saturday or Sunday)
Venue: Lab A (1st Floor), UCSC

*The candidates must bring their National Identity Card (NIC) or a valid identification document, as provided during the registration process, to the examination.
*All candidates should be present at the examination hall at least 15 minutes before the commencement of each examination.

What is GCCT?
GCCT – The General Computing Competence Test

The General Computing Competence Test (GCCT) is a prerequisite to apply for Master of Computer Science(MCS)*, Master of Science in Computer Science (MSc in CS)* postgraduate programs at University of Colombo School of Computing. Once you sit for a particular test, the validity period of the test results is for 2 years. However, depending on the competitiveness of the test score, you will be notified if you are selected to the applied masters’ degree program or not.

GCCT is an assessment tool designed to evaluate the general computing skills of candidates and is offered by the University of Colombo School of Computing. By testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of candidates in the computing field, the GCCT aims to standardize the assessment process and provide a reliable indicator of general competence. The test is scored on a ten-band scale, which provides a clear indication of the candidate's level of expertise in the computing domain. As such, the GCCT is an invaluable tool for anyone seeking to demonstrate their general competence in computing, whether for academic, professional, or personal reasons.

Library Facilities For Students


The UCSC Library provides its service to the staff and students of the UCSC. There are more than 1,400 registered library members. The library hosts more than 10,000 books, a comprehensive collection of computer science books supported by the latest editions and books related to relavent subjects and recreational books. There is a high demand for the theses and dissertation collection of the library as many users are doing researches.

UCSC is an education institute with modern laboratory facilities for computing studies. Postgraduate students can use the facilities available for their studies during the course of study at UCSC.
